All In a Day
CURATED BY KYUNGSHIL CHOI 17 May - 21 June 2025
Ryan Art Gallery is proud to present All in a Day by Emily Wallerstein, a series of landscape paintings that serve as a visual love letter to Southern California. In this body of work, Wallerstein traces the poetic geography of a region where one can journey from ocean to desert, from mountain peaks to bustling urban centers—all within a single day. Rendered with a sensitivity that blends observation and memory, these paintings evoke the layered emotional terrain of place: the nostalgia of familiar skies, the warmth of coastal light, the grandeur of arid expanses. All in a Day not only captures the physical beauty of California’s diverse environments but also gestures toward a collective sense of belonging, rooted in fleeting moments and timeless vistas. Through this series, Wallerstein invites us to see landscape not only as scenery, but as a shared memory—a patchwork of experiences stitched together by light, distance, and time.
Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, May 17th, from 12 to 2 PM
